About Our Data
Every number on BSL traces back to an official source — here is where each dataset comes from, how often it refreshes, and how derived figures are calculated.
01—Sources & refresh cadence
Primary sources only — exchange feeds, clearing-house reports, and company filings
| Dataset | Source | Refresh |
|---|---|---|
| Share prices, volumes & index levels | Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) | Intraday during market hours (delayed at least 15 minutes); closing figures after each session |
| Company fundamentals — EPS, P/E, book value, payouts | PSX company announcements & audited financial statements | On filing — typically quarterly and at year end |
| Dividends, book closures & board meetings | PSX notices and company announcements | Daily, as notices are published |
| MTS / MFS leverage & UIN-wise settlement | NCCPL daily reports | Daily after each settlement cycle |
| FIPI / LIPI investor flows (by category & sector) | NCCPL daily portfolio-investment reports | Daily after each session |
| KIBOR / KIBID rates (all tenors) | State Bank of Pakistan (EasyData portal) | Each business day, after the ~11:30am PKT fixing |
| Deliverable futures open interest & blank sales | PSX deliverable futures contract (DFC) reports | Daily after close |
| Share structure — paid-up capital, free float | PSX free-float disclosures & company filings | As disclosed (typically quarterly) |
Pages state their own freshness: data-bound sentences and tables carry an explicit “as of” date, and stock pages show the date prices run through.
02—How derived figures are calculated
The conventions behind every computed metric on the platform
- Dividend yield is trailing twelve months: cash dividends actually declared over the last year, divided by the latest close.
- P/E ratio uses the latest reported earnings per share against the latest close; loss-makers show no P/E rather than a negative one.
- Sector medians (used in peer comparisons) exclude companies with missing values for that metric rather than treating gaps as zero.
- Moving averages, RSI and 52-week ranges are computed from PSX daily closes over their standard windows (10/30/200-day averages, 14-day RSI).
- Total leverage on a stock combines its MTS and MFS financed value; the market-wide figure on Leverage & Settlement adds deliverable futures open interest.
- Definitions for every term we use live in the PSX glossary — the ⓘ icons beside metrics link straight to them.
03—Limitations & corrections
What this data is — and is not — suitable for
Prices are delayed at least 15 minutes during market hours and are not suitable for order execution — use your trading terminal for live quotes. Fundamentals reflect the most recent filings available to us and can lag a company’s own announcements by a short processing window.
If you spot a figure that looks wrong, please flag it through the contact channels on the main BSL site — verified errors are corrected at the next data refresh. See also our editorial policy and disclaimer.
